Knowledge for World Conservation (KWC) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified software development firms and individual consultants to undertake the design, development and integration of a Domestic Timber Tracking Module within the Ghana Wood Tracking Decision Support System (GWT-DSS).
The assignment forms part of the project "Advancing Good Forest and Mineral Governance to Reduce the Contribution of Timber Trade and Mining to Deforestation in Ghana, Liberia, and Cameroon," funded under the Forest Governance, Markets and Climate (FGMC) Phase II Programme with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The project is implemented by a consortium led by the Nature and Development Foundation (NDF), with KWC serving as a key implementing partner in Ghana.
The consultancy seeks to enhance Ghana's timber legality assurance system by developing a user-friendly module that improves the traceability and accounting of legally sourced timber traded on the domestic market. The module will be integrated into the existing GWT-DSS and will provide both a front-end interface for domestic timber industry operators and a secure back-end information management platform for the Forestry Commission.
Interested consultants are expected to demonstrate expertise in software development, systems integration, database and information management, and preferably experience in natural resource governance, chain-of-custody systems, or timber legality assurance. The assignment includes system requirements analysis, software development and integration, testing, documentation, training, and knowledge transfer.
