Building the capacities of Small-Medium Forest Enterprises in Ghana and Liberia to supply and Trade in Legal Timber (Phase II)
Small and Medium Forest Enterprises (SMFEs) lack the systems and technical know-how needed to apply forestry rules and regulations meant for the legal functioning of the forestry sector. The project, funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the UK Government, seeks to build the capacities of SMFEs in Ghana and Liberia to comply with FLEGT requirements.
Capacity Building & Training
We build industry capacity to implement and apply government policies & regulations, and assist small and medium enterprises to improve their competitiveness and productivity
We conduct needs assessments, dialogue with industry and policy makers, gather views on issues of concern in developing businesses; promotes discussions at the peer, regulator and stakeholder levels.
Partnerships with Forest Enterprises
We believe every Small and Medium Forest Enterprises (SMFEs) deserves partnerships that support their environmentally-sound economic development.
We synthesize policies and programme standards into formats that SMFEs readily understand, develop work procedures and templates for data collection and use, and conduct extension works to implement developed solutions.
